Wait until you reveal to them that you're a crazy chicken lady.  They'll never believe it...until you school them on some chicken science right there on the spot!  That's right, gals, Gallus Gallus is the scientific term for chicken.  Genus: Gallus, Species: Gallus.  

Ok, just Gallus Gallus, alone, means red junglefowl, the wild primary progenitor of the domestic chicken.  You can add the Subspecies "Domesticus" on the end of Gallus Gallus to mean domestic chicken, if you want to get really technical.  Which, of course, you will when you are explaining your shirt to every person who asks about it.  And then tell them all about each of your chickens individually, by name.
